Faisalabad, the 3rd largest city of Pakistan, with a population of 2.6 million estimated to triple by 2020. This growth has important implications for the quality of life of the people.
DFID, a UK based development and donor agency, began a project in 2002 with the Government of Punjab for Faisalabad District for the “Strengthening and Decentralization of Local Government” to achieve tangible improvements in public services, to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life.
The mission was to establish an efficient, effective and accountable District Local Government committed to respecting and upholding human rights, responsive towards people’s needs, committed to poverty reduction and capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st Century.
Eckova was commissioned to produce a film to document this five year effort to transform the city government, its processes, procedures, attitude and its very culture to be suitably responsive to the needs of its citizens. The film highlights Faisalabad’s success and will serve as an inspiration to other cities and governments. |

From the Arabian Sea to the Himalayas, the highways and roads of Pakistan are busy with trucks with the curious practice of having works of art painted on them. These canvases on the move are an art-form in themselves with an inimitable style.
Huge sums of money and years of experience and training go into creating these masterpieces, on display for free across roads, villages and cities. Truck art has its roots deep in the history, culture, folklore, commerce and everyday life. The style is now considered an art form and is transcending its original canvas
The one hour film explores the art form and underlying traditions and culture through colourful visuals, interviews with artists, painters, drivers, and art enthusiasts. The practice is threatened by the advance of technology and new and efficient techniques.Through initial private funding, preproduction work is complete and shoots and interviews are in progress. We are seeking partners, broadcasters and distributors for completion, marketing and distribution. For details please contact |
