Indus WalkOur work on the walk to save the Indus continues. Having completed the walk, Eckova produced one music video and two PSAs for Pani Pakistan. The first documentary is now ready for release, chronicling the adventurous journey from the Indian border in the northern mountains to the edge of the Arabian sea in the south. The film is a unique mix of adventure and awareness raising, as it traces the route of the walkers and their message for change through various regions, villages, factories, farms and communities.

This film which is in initial production phase examines the life and work of Mexican immigrant laborers that work for major institutions in Southern California. This in depth and personal view of their lives, fears and hopes shows the other side of the immigration issue.

Lessons In Good Governance Faisalabad, the 3rd largest city of Pakistan, with a population of 2.6 million estimated to triple by 2020. This growth has important implications for the quality of life of the people.

DFID, a UK based development and donor agency, began a project in 2002 with the Government of Punjab for Faisalabad District for the “Strengthening and Decentralization of Local Government” to achieve tangible improvements in public services, to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life.

The mission was to establish an efficient, effective and accountable District Local Government committed to respecting and upholding human rights, responsive towards people’s needs, committed to poverty reduction and capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st Century.

Eckova was commissioned to produce a film to document this five year effort to transform the city government, its processes, procedures, attitude and its very culture to be suitably responsive to the needs of its citizens. The film highlights Faisalabad’s success and will serve as an inspiration to other cities and governments.

DHA Desalination Plant
Eckova was chosen as the local film and media partner by Swedish firm, King Edward Produktion, for a media piece on Alfa Laval and its various projects around the world. DHA Cogen Ltd. initiated Pakistan’s first water desalination and power generation project. The Cogeneration Plant uses desalination technology to help combat the scarcity of water and shortage of electricity in Karachi with water from the Arabian Sea. Alfa Laval of Sweden provided technical assistance and the desalination units.

The Desert Awaits: Thar
Tharparkar is one of the most deprived regions of Pakistan, with a population of one million desert dwellers who live a life, almost on the edge of survival.

Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP) is an NGO working to facilitate the rural communities to empower them and secure their rights and capabilities to manage the process of sustainable development. TRDP works in areas of income generation, primary health care, education and water.

Eckova in collaboration with TRDP has produced two short films celebrating the region, its people, its magic, beauty, colours and majesty, revealing a rarely known side of Thar. The films are used internationally as an introduction to the region and TRDP’s work with donors and supporting organizations.
Moving Canvases
From the Arabian Sea to the Himalayas, the highways and roads of Pakistan are busy with trucks with the curious practice of having works of art painted on them. These canvases on the move are an art-form in themselves with an inimitable style.

Huge sums of money and years of experience and training go into creating these masterpieces, on display for free across roads, villages and cities. Truck art has its roots deep in the history, culture, folklore, commerce and everyday life. The style is now considered an art form and is transcending its original canvas

The one hour film explores the art form and underlying traditions and culture through colourful visuals, interviews with artists, painters, drivers, and art enthusiasts. The practice is threatened by the advance of technology and new and efficient techniques.Through initial private funding, preproduction work is complete and shoots and interviews are in progress. We are seeking partners, broadcasters and distributors for completion, marketing and distribution. For details please contact
