Call for submissions of films
for a Pakistani Youth Film festival
at The Drum, Aston Birmingham, UK
The Drum is a Birmingham, UK based national centre for Black British arts and culture. It is dedicated to developing, promoting and celebrating the artistic and creative expressions of African, Asian and Caribbean peoples for the benefit of all.
The arts programme includes national and international touring productions in the following artforms: Theatre, Dance, Spoken Word, Literature, Comedy, Live Music, Film, exhibitions, Multimedia training. There is also a range of arts development initiatives supporting artist professional development and a children and young peoples programme offering a range of workshops and training in various artforms visit www.the-drum.org.uk
Karachi University Department of Visual Studies in association with The Drum, Birmingham, UK invite submissions of short films for selection for a film Festival at The Drum in February 2010.
Theme:
Meri Kahani Suno (Hear my story)
Length: 7-15 minutes
Language: The film may be in Urdu, English or any other regional language, with English subtitles.
Eligibility: Anyone age 29 or younger who is resident of Pakistan may submit a film for this competition.
Timeline (Drum 2009)
- November 15 – Submit your 1 page story ( 500 – 700 words) with the story concept and your contact details. This should be submitted online at http://www.eckova.com/drum.
- Your proposal should include the concept, genre, and a description of the story.
- OPTIONAL: you may send by courier some samples of your other previous films on DVD.
- If you have difficulty preparing your application online – you may send an email to drum@eckova.com and include all the details.
- November 30 – Cut off date for receipt of film on DVD. Send your DVD by courier to

- December 15 – All participants will be informed if they have been selected
- January 15 – Selected participants films must be received with 1 DV tape and 2 DVDs to the above address by 4PM. Any late entries will not be included in the judging.
- January 15 – 25 – Local judging by jury
- February 5 – Submission to UK
NOTE:
All material (including music) MUST be original. Copyright violations will result in immediate disqualification.
Submitted materials sent will not be returned.
The selected films will be sent for screening at the UK festival at The Drum
